My weird Trivia sleep schedule means I get to be the first to wish eithni a very happy birthday! I hope the event went great and the celebration was fun and fabulous. See you Tuesday night!

At last point totals we were 10 points out of 2nd and 5 points (one question's worth) out of 3rd; it's basically a 3-way fight for 2nd. So we could be anywhere. There have been more thrown-out questions recently, which is fine with us if we missed the question, and makes us mad if it was one we got.

The bottom of this laptop is really warm. Do they all get like this? Is it possibly not so lap-friendly for them to get this hot?

Question 235: What were the last words of Meher Baba? Answer: "Don't worry; be happy." The source I found said it was his philosophy and didn't give last words, but they gave it to us. First rule of Trivia: when they say you got the points, never, ever argue.

We missed three in a row...I'm starting to get mildly worried. But I've gotten 11 hours of sleep thus far and I'm doing well personally. So everything I can do to help, I'll do.

Laptops are notorious for being overly-warm to the user's lap. The newer models have made huge strides in the cooling technology used in the systems so as to prevent burns to the users, but you still need to be careful. If you are going to be using a laptop for extended periods of time with it sitting on your lap, you may want to invest in a a laptop cooling mat or (even better) one of those "breakfast in bed" trays that you can put the laptop on and not have it contacting your person at all.

Meher Baba!!!!! Did you also discover that his last words were spoken 40 years before he died? And that the word "Baba" in the Who song "Baba O'Reilly" (aka "Teenage Wasteland") was in reference to him (Townshend fed his name and some of his writings into the synthesizer to create the unique [at the time] sound)......

Good luck with the rest of the trivia game!

I probably should have put my towel on my lap before holding the laptop...but I don't actually own one, so it was a novel enough feeling that I just let the heat come. Yay for warm thighs.

I didn't know a a thing about Meher Baba until this very day, and still don't know much. But you know a lot! I'll have to look up more info about him, I always think religious oddballs are interesting.

I mean, I don't actually own a laptop (it was a friend's; there are maybe a dozen laptops in the house for Trivia Weekend). I own a towel. How cool and froody could I possibly be without a towel?

I spent many many hours online (back in the days of dialup and Netscape-dominance!) and in the sub-basement of Wilson Library to learn all this stuff ;) I still have a lot of the research material I dug up (as well as the script of the final outcome); let me know if you want to peruse it!

Laptop bottoms do get hot; if they get hot enough, they can effect sperm production. I don't think that's a problem for you, really. I usually put my laptop on a little portable desk bean-bag thingy if I want to use it away from my desk.

On warm laptops. You only have to read the first two. :')
