Earlier, six kids were sitting in a circle in the library, and I was about to read them a book. One of them mentioned that another was going home today, and everyone was sad because they would miss him.

I said, "It's still pretty neat that he's going home. We should wish him good luck when he goes back to his school."

Another kid piped up, "Yeah, good luck, and I hope you have a good librarian!"

I never heard such a lovely wish in my whole life. I think everyone should wish their friends and loved ones a good librarian.

This particular bunch was maybe 8-11, all boys as it happened, though recently the unit has had a few girls from time to time. The unit this class was drawn from takes ages 6-12.

I always appreciate a good librarian. Of course, a naughty librarian can be fun too.
